Life Drawing 4

And we're back with life drawing! For today's life drawings, there was a time tabling problem so we drew each other for the first 45 minutes.

Was just a warm up, 10 minutes each. Since I've been drawing in a different way recently, I drew these figures in that way, constructing forms first before connecting the dots and forming the bodies. I found this a bit awkward to do, especially in the time limit we had, although the sketches aren't too bad for a warm up.

15 minute drawings. Here the life model came, and I started working with a needle to sort out proportions, and how the angles of the body aligned with each other. It was definitely mentally challenging as it was a more technical way of drawing rather than the easier flowing way of estimating that I normally do.

10 minute and one 5 minute drawing. Again, using the needle, you can see I've drawn in lines representing the needle I've been using to guide where parts of the body lined up. It was a shame that the life model had her back to us so often, but eh. In the second drawing, on the top right, I was quite drained from using the needle, so I did a bit of a combination of using the needle and following my instincts, and I think that worked even better, as I feel I got the pose and weight right.

All in all, I'll definitely say that this was a challenge that I will be practicing in the future, to work on my anatomy. I might also try it out with drawing things like landscapes, just to see if it's applicable too.
