Shelterbox - Initial Development
Brief: Create an informative short explaining what a Shelterbox is, suitable for distribution to children aged 7-13
For this project, we were able to choose our own teams. Initially, I joined a team who already had a solid idea, but because we were too small we had to join with another group, turning us into a group of seven. Our first pitch of the idea went pretty well though, as we were all happy to keep with the idea, and we had a specific director and producer decided already. So, from there, I began thumbnailing the ideas we discussed as they were brought up. I initially did this so that we wouldn't forget them, but in the end thumbnailed the entire thing!
One particular scene kind of stumped us, so much that we ha to go through several iterations of it; the moon idea.

We were trying to find a way of describing how many people the shelter box helped in a visual metaphor that would be applicable in many countries. We initially went with double decker buses, but not all countries have those, so we decided to go with ‘if all the people [shelterbox helped] shouted at once, you could hear it from the moon!’. I’m still not certain about that, as until that point we concentrate on one character in one composition. But we’ll see at the next pitch.
